Herzog versus Tredwell comparison-ashleigh
In the documentary Grizzly Man Herzog documents and narrates Timothy Treadwells experience in Alaska living among the bears. Timothy is a naturalist and in some ways a romantic. Timothy feels as though he has broken the gap between humans and animals, and he wants to share that with the world. He is a romantic because Treadwell feels an emotional and loving connection to the bears and in a way that some might find disturbing. Herzog made this documentary as a way of showing us the actual dangers of living among animals and acting like one. Herzog is in many ways a naturalist and romantic as well but he feels as though Treadwell takes it too far sometimes. Herzog uses actual footage taken by Treadwell before his tragic death to show us the dangers and harm living among wild animals truly does. This documentary really shows the ideas of how humans are the ones getting in the way of nature and ruining it. Treadwell wanted to be just like the bears but he was essentially hurting their existence by doing so, and in that way he got himself killed in; Alaska, by a bear.
