The Ideal and Perfect Horse
So as you all probably know this is Scout. The infamous Scout I wrote my sacred space paper about and Ms. Levin matched her mother-in-law with him. Many of you probably would not view this as an ideal work of art. To be honest, I do not know any thing about art. I think that everyone's definition of what an ideal work of art is different. For me personally, art is more realistic. I like clear cut pictures and works of art. I want to know exactly what's going on. Guessing what something is or what it means is just plain confusing.
Of all of the pictures I have of Scout, I would say this one has become my favorite. At first I didn't like it. His hair is a mess and he is a mess, but that's what makes it beautiful. The outline of his body is so rough, yet smooth. In the back ground, it is simple. If you look through the fence the landscape has tables and other things, but his beauty draws your eye in. None of the other things in the background matter because he catches your eye. For me personally when I see this picture and other pictures of horses and animals in general, I want to know what's going on in their head. What was happening in that moment? This is just an example of what I consider to be a ideal work of art.

I really love that this is your ideal work of art. It's so connected to your own life that I have absolutely no doubt that it is ideal for you. I love how you analyze the picture and talk about your progression of falling in love with it. I agree with you, I think that it is important for a work of art to not be perfect, because it feels more honest to me. I wonder, if you saw this same picture of another horse that you didn't have a connection to, would you feel the same? Or is your love of the picture dependent on your real-life experiences with Scout?
ReplyDeleteMaddie, I love how your ideal work of art is something so close to your heart. I agree with your statements about art. I don't know much about art but I think everyone has a different view on what they perceive to be art. I like how you said whenever you look at a picture of any animal, you always wonder what is going on it their head. Did you take this picture? If so, do you think that makes the picture more ideal to you? Scout is very cute, great post!
ReplyDeleteScout is so adorable! I like it is really adorable that he is your ideal work of art. To me having him as your ideal work of art is shows that you both have a strong connection that may go deeper than some may see. Has your view of different photographs changed since you have had this picture of Scout as your ideal work? If it has in what ways? I really love this post and I find it even more fascinating that you are so connected with your ideal art. Amazing!
