If you have never seen the movie Hacksaw Ridge, you need to watch it. This movie is a work of art; it portrays the morals and emotions of men fighting for our country, This movie stirs up emotions I didn't even know I had honestly, Overcoming fears and putting everyone else before yourself, being completely and utterly selfless are traits not many people have today. Mel Gibson is the perfect fit for the actor in this movie, he captures each emotion so perfectly and allows viewers to be on edge.
Desmond Doss earns the respect as a medic to all of his men by working towards bravery, selflessness, and compassion; he risks his own life countless times to save the lives of the men fighting for our country. This medic, who started his journey, particularly because he couldn't "sit back and watch" every other man fight for his country, saved a total of 75 soldiers in the battle of Okinawa; without firing one single shot. A movie, capturing this? I don't think there could be better art.
I think that your love of this clip and movie is really beautiful, because it shows your love of goodness and heroism. I like that you talk about the suspense of the acting and the emotional effect of the movie, because I think that that is ultimately what draws a person to it. How do you think the music and scenery in the movie affects how you view it? I would guess that it wouldn't have the same kind of emotional pull if the music and quality film making wasn't there. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with your blog post. Just like you, I really enjoy films like this. When you talk about the selfless acts many do not think about, it reminds me of how fortunate we all are to have the freedoms we do now a days. Coming from a military family, my respect for the heroism and the selfless act of putting your life on the life for our freedoms makes me proud to be an American. In our world now I would say not everybody is proud to be an American. Our country is extremely divided more than ever before, I would say. This movie is such an amazing reminder of those who gave us the freedom to even be where we are now. This was truly an amazing piece of artwork to chose. What inspired you to chose it? Do you have military history within your family?
