When I first started to research my topic, which was Greek mythology I found out that it was extremely broad and I knew that I would want to narrow my topic to something a little bit less broad but still in the Greek mythology realm. I decided on the Greek Olympians and It was a great decision. I wanted to stick with the them of including myths into my paper but still having room to talk about other aspects as well as the myths, so the Olympians was perfect. Now that I am doing my paper on that I found so many interesting things that I did not even come across until I narrowed my search.
When I figured everything out related to my topic, that is when I started to find a lot more information, and my paper finally started to form itself as I began to learn more and more about it. Since my paper is about the Olympians I wanted to include something about all the Greek gods and goddesses that are apart of the Olympians and their importance. I also had an idea to talk about the myths that went along with each god, or goddess. While searching for information related to the gods I found some details that explained the importance that the Olympians have on the Greek people today and in the past. Do they still pray to the olympians? Do they have an doubts? I have some questions that I am excited to find the information out about and then see my essay come together.
Im so glad you were able to specify your topic into something you were really happy with. I have always found Greek mythology very interesting but like you said, it is a very broad topic. I like how you are still able to talk about the gods and goddess and their importance in the Greek Olympics. I would just like to know is there any relation to the Olympics now to the ones back then?
ReplyDeleteYou brought up an interesting point on how modern Greeks are influenced by their ancient ancestors' religion, and if they still worship the Olympians. I think they probably don't. The Romans took over after the Greeks. Also, what once was a religion is now seen as a myth. I think that implies a shift from being practiced, to not. But it's still something to look into. Some Greeks might have adopted certain aspects of their ancestors culture (including religion). How big an influence do you think the ancient Greeks had on modern Greece after thousands of years since the fall of ancient Greece? Do you have a favorite god/goddess, and if so, who?
