My next question is how is Norse mythology characters in movies, T.V shows, magazines ect. portrayed and what famous hollywood characters parallel the famous mythological characters. The most interesting things I have found so far are the pieces of literature and the connections i keep finding in modern media. The most surprising thing is the music and that there are actually bands that are based on norse. I hop that from my paper readers are able to not only learn a little about who these indigenous people were and the stories they were surrounded with, but also be able to find connections to things in their every-day lives that they can now see originated from Norse mythology.

Progress blog #4 Norse
Through my research on Norse mythology, I have found a lot of useful information for my paper. The books gave me a really good background on the norse stories and who the characters are and through my online databases i have found a lot about how it is seen in pop culture. I have spent a lot of time dissecting the characters and researching how they are portrayed differently depending on where it is seen. For example, sometimes Odin (the main god) is portrayed in the media as being mighty and god-like, but in ancient works of art he is seen as more man-like and soldierly. I have also spent a lot of time on how literature has come from and how/why norse mythological influence is even relevant still in todays society. I am currently looking at pieces of art and how modern art has come from Norse art.

I think that your topic is really interesting, and I love that you're connecting it to modern society and media. I like the example you give about how perceptions of Norse mythology have changed. I feel like it would be really interesting to look at movies like Thor and see how accurate they are in comparison to the original myths. What is your favorite myth that you've read? Great job, I can't wait to hear more about your subject!
