Digging deeper into my topic led me to change the discussion to the controversy within science and magic while still including Faust, since it's an urban legend. My family is very, very German, so this became a interesting thing to research. I was also able to find out information on how science, religion, and magic are seen in Germany. All of which I will be discussing in my paper. I'm hoping to find out some more relevant information since I still need to do some research.
So far, I've realized that science and magic have been a constant heat of discussion in many different aspects. The paranormal, alchemy, which craft, and so on. Pretty much anything that would be considered "unexplainable" could fall into the argument of the two. When talking about Faust, both science and magic are involved so the reader has to make a decision on if it's magic that caused everything to happen in the story, or something explainable, science.
To be honest I had no clue what your topic was because I don't think I ever took a look at your blog posts and I'm really glad I did now! I like how your family heritage influenced the way you chose your overall topic. I've always been extremely interested in magic and science and I would have never really thought about putting the two together but now that you have, it makes a lot of sense! I'm not 100% sure about what Faust is other than it is a myth, but it seems pretty cool from what you've explained in this post! Was your heritage the only factor involved in choosing your topic, or was it also just pure curiosity as well?
