Originally, my research paper was based on the roles of angels and demons in various cultures. I soon realized that I honestly couldn't find a ton of information unless I looked in about 12 different places. After discussing a topic change, Mrs. Levin helped push me in the direction of focusing my paper on the different views of the afterlife. This way, I didn't pick a totally unrelated topic and could use some of the information I already found to create a more interesting paper. After researching anything about the afterlife and what it is, I quickly found SO much information about it! Dozens of articles, websites, books, etc.
My paper would be focusing on the controversy of the afterlife. MANY individuals believe in it and even claim to have experiences with it during near death experiences, which I personally have found very interesting. But scientists believe that it's actually just an individuals bodily functions just shutting down at once. Scientists claim to have reasoning behind the very spiritual experiences people claim to have when they're close to death. I have many questions about this topic. Which side do more people believe in, the spiritual aspect or the scientific reasoning? What do I personally believe in more? Are all individuals experiences with afterlife similar to one another? Through this research project I honestly hope that all of you learn something interesting that none of us truly think about on a daily basis. I don't necessarily expect anyone to walk away with the "wow!" factor and that is completely okay! I just think this personally will be very interesting to learn about. :)
Alyssa, I remember you telling me about your dilemma about your topic and I am glad that now you have found a topic that is appealing to you and that you can find information about! I find it extremely interesting that you included what the scientists said about people with near death experiences, I never knew that and I think it is so neat. Do you believe that scientists have reasoning behind the very spiritual experiences? I am very excited to see where your research paper takes you!!
ReplyDeleteIf i chose this topic for my own research paper I would honestly have a difficult time writing it because I have absolutely NO idea what I believe in! You are definitely right when you say that there are so many stories about peoples encounters with the afterlife, however some of them are just too hard to believe. I think the route you have taken in terms of writing your research paper is very interesting; both to you and whoever gets to read it. What do you think you believe in?
