My Sacred Space Isn't an Actual Space

For me, my sacred place isn’t about a physical location. There’s no specific place that I go to to unwind and just escape the world. Instead, my sacred space is more about the people that create an environment for me where I can be completely open and have no worries.  My sacred space is when I’m in the presence of my moms. In my space, there is no judgement, and anything in the world that bothers me just kindof goes away for however long I’m in that place. In my sacred space, I know I’m always safe and supported and well-understood, and that’s what makes it so sacred to me.
The time that I spend in my sacred space has a huge influence on the rest of my life. For starters, it keeps me grounded and calm throughout even the toughest of situations. I can go there stressed out of my mind or struggling with something and by the time I leave, I’m calm, level-headed, and have a better understanding of my priorities. My sacred space allows me to take the compassion that I receive and pass it on to others. If I didn’t have this sacred space, I don’t think I’d be as empathetic or accepting. I think i’d be the kind of person I could never imagine myself being without my space.

  1. I really loved that you said your scared space was when you're in the presence of your moms. It is so inspiring that you have such a strong relationship with them, and that you can go to them anytime. I think it is really important to have people in your life that can help relax, feel happy, and become a better person overall. We all need support and it makes me very happy that you have found such unconditional love from your parents. I can tell they mean a lot to you.

  2. I think this post is beautiful. I agree with Sarah's comment above. All of it. Through your words, this space and your moms mean a lot to you and you make it a point to stress that. I believe everyone should have a space like yours when it comes to the comfortability and positive feelings that it gives you. This made me really happy when reading it. Thank you for sharing!
