When I picked up my Nose mythology books, I had no idea whatI was going to learn. The first few pages I was very intrigued by the creatures and stories of norse mythology but as I read I noticed a familiarity in current day characters we see and characters in the mythology. I began to think about how I want to form my paper and what might be a good idea to write about. I narrowed it down and came to a conclusion. I have narrowed down to begin focusing on how norse mythology is seen in pop culture and how it has been revealed in modern day society. Norse myths still hold meaning to people in the 21st century and the characters seen in the myths are recreated and fit into comic books and hollywood movies.
Reading the books and articles about Norse mythology has helped me gain an understanding about what norse mythology really is and how I can transform the ideas of it into an idea for my research paper. When reading the book and taking notes, it amazed me how my very own ancestors had similar questions that i have in modern day America (why and how) It's amazing how in between the many many centuries between us, I share the same values and questions as they did so long ago. These readings have reshaped my thoughts and views of norse mythology because although i came into the topic with a foreign basis of knowledge on the topic, I have found that it is more common than I realized before. Norse mythological ideas and characters are still extremely relevant in pop culture.
