Technology has really changed our experience with nature. People don't care as much about nature as they used to. Why go for a jog in the woods when you could run on a treadmill? Why bike when you could drive? Why garden when you could "game?" Technology has replaced many nature-based activities, so people aren't as worried about the environment as they were before modern technology.
On the other hand, technology has allowed us to enjoy nature in ways past humans couldn't imagine. Technology lets us capture a moment in nature and share it with the world, or keep it in our homes to see everyday. Nature films let you experience it as if you were there. We also know more about nature thanks to technology. The average person can look up anything they need to know about the environment in a split second. If it weren't for the media, climate change would be known of by few, or seen as a myth.
If you look at modern America, you'll find examples of both points: Americans don't care about nature, and technology makes nature available to everyone. There are environmentalits that spread awareness on the Internet, while other people turn a blind eye and rev their diesel engines. Technology has decreased people's interest in the environment, and increased its reach.
I like how you made this short, simple and stated your opinion clearly. I agree with you in the sense that I feel like we no longer care about nature as much as we used to, and the fact that we can also film it when we do enjoy it or find something intriguing. I liked how you provided pros and cons throughout the blog post. Do you feel more negatively or positively towards technology in general?
ReplyDeleteI feel slightly more positive about it, but I don't like how technology keeps advancing. Human lives have become so cushy and we've become lazy. The more it advances, the lazier we get. At what point does it end?
